Update from the Administrator 8-18-2023
DATE: 08/18/2023
Dear Residents, Families and Representatives,
We have had another resident from the same unit test positive for COVID-19 yesterday. All other residents and staff who were tested were negative. We will continue testing residents and staff who may have had contact with any individuals with COVID every 48 hours until we are out of outbreak. It can take up to 14 days to develop symptoms or test positive after exposure to COVID-19. Symptoms of COVID-19 include runny/stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, body aches, diarrhea, vomiting and headache. Residents should notify staff immediately if they are not feeling well.
The new variants of COVID-19 spread quickly and are better at evading the immune system. Good hand washing, wearing masks and use of hand sanitizer can help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Residents may still have visitors whenever they wish, regardless of the quarantine measures. Visitors must wear masks, use good hand hygiene and check with staff for other required personal protective equipment that may be needed if a resident is on precautions. Visiting outside in our courtyards, by phone or video visit are safer ways to connect with loved ones while we are in outbreak. We are happy to assist when needed! Visitors at higher risk of serious illness may want to reschedule visits until we are out of outbreak. If visitors have any symptoms of illness they should postpone visiting until they are feeling better and symptoms are gone.
I will keep you informed of any new staff or resident cases. We are in outbreak status until we have 14 days with no further staff or resident cases. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Linda Smith LNHA
