Dear Residents, Families and Representatives,
Two additional residents tested positive for COVID-19 and 2 additional staff. The total COVID-19 cases in this outbreak is 21 residents and 13 staff. These numbers are the combined numbers for our entire community including the nursing home and assisted living..
We are continuing to test to stay on top of new cases so we can contain it as quickly as possible. At times we catch it before any symptoms develop. We also have the other end of the spectrum when symptoms develop first so we place that person on precautions or out of work and test daily. Some individuals have symptoms for a few days before the tests come back positive. That is why we need to monitor for symptoms and test frequently. The length of time that it takes from exposure to when symptoms or tests show infection can vary significantly from 2 to 14 days. Unfortunately this can make containing the spread of the virus challenging. We need to be without any new cases for 14 days for the outbreak to over.
Please help do your part by wearing masks when around others, washing or using hand sanitizer frequently and maintaining a safe distance from others whenever possible. Residents may have visitors and those residents without COVID may go out with family and friends. Visitors should wear masks when in the facility and if visiting a COVID positive resident they must wear gowns and gloves in addition to the masks for safety reasons.
The residents with COVID who were diagnosed in the first days of this outbreak will be coming out of isolation and off precautions very soon. Residents must meet the criteria of improved symptoms, 10 days from beginning of symptoms and a negative rapid (Antigen) COVID test. We are looking forward to seeing residents and staff get back to good health.
If you have any questions or concerns please reach out.
Stay well,
Linda Smith LNHA
