Update from the Administrator 3/28/2023

Dear Residents, Families and Representatives,
I will continue to do one letter daily to keep you informed of events while we are still having additional cases. .
We identified two new residents with COVID-19 on rapid tests today. We also have two additional staff cases, one that was picked up on PCR testing from Saturday and a positive rapid test today. The total COVID-19 cases in this outbreak is 19 residents and 11 staff. These numbers are the combined numbers for our entire community including the nursing home and assisted living. We do not have any cases on Birchwood or Prairie Hills at this time.
This is by far the largest outbreak of COVID we have had since the beginning of the pandemic. This variant is extremely contagious, however, we are seeing relatively mild cases overall. Hopefully all residents and staff will recover quickly and with no complications. Nursing staff are monitoring all residents closely to ensure we are responding to any changes of condition quickly. We have had staff with no symptoms and we are only identifying them because of the extra testing. This helps us contain the outbreak by pulling these people out of work and hopefully preventing them from having an opportunity to spread it to residents or coworkers.
Nursing staff conducted PCR testing of all residents yesterday and we are doing additional rapid tests whenever we note a slight change in the resident or just because we are nervous! This has helped us pick up cases before the PCR tests are back and allowed us to put precautions in place quickly. Staff are being tested twice weekly with PCR tests and as needed with rapid tests. .
Rolling Hills staff are working very hard to get the outbreak under control and to provide good care to all residents. Thank you again for your patience if we are a bit slower to answer the phone or assist you. We will do our best to assist you just as soon as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns please reach out.
Stay well,
Linda Smith LNHA
