Update from the Administrator 10-14-21
DATE: 10/14/2021
Dear Residents, Families and Representatives,
We were notified yesterday that we had one staff person test positive for COVID-19 from testing conducted on Monday. This staff person has been off of work on quarantine prior to testing positive. As a result no exposure to residents or staff occurred. The staff person will remain off of work until they meet criteria to return.
We will continue to follow CDC guidance for testing and screening of residents and staff. This includes testing of any unvaccinated staff twice per week and as needed testing for all of our vaccinated staff. Vaccinated staff are tested following known exposures, during outbreaks and if they develop symptoms. Residents are tested if they have a known exposure or develop any symptoms that might indicate an infection. Our other precautions such as masking, eye protection and frequent disinfection remain in place.
The COVID-19 vaccinations are safe and effective at preventing severe illness and hospitalization. It is still possible to have breakthrough cases of COVID-19 when vaccinated people are immunocompromised or are exposed to a high level of virus. The vaccines give your body the ability to respond more quickly and effectively if you are exposed to the coronavirus. The vaccines have provided very good protection in our facility to date. We are preparing to provide booster shots as recommended by resident physicians. Most of our residents and staff received the Moderna vaccine and we are waiting on FDA approval for the booster shots. Be watching for additional information to come out in the near future!
I will continue to keep you informed of any developments. Please reach out with any questions or concerns!
Stay well,
Linda Smith NHA
