We begin by saying Happy Birthday to our neighbors and friends: Bernice, Jane, Sharon, David, Victor, Marcella, Tom and Laura. Then we started talking about the neat things we have done in the past month. Some things that stood out included saying good-bye to two of the activity staff. We sure will miss Sharon and Pat! Then we talked about the fun had playing games. One of our favorites was Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader. The activity intern, Nicole, also introduced Family Feud. We all loved that we won a car after playing that game! Some of us have a fierce competition, complete with a traveling trophy cup when we play crazy 8s with a volunteer named Kathy. And who can forget Pie Face. A few brave souls headed to the head table for a fun, laughter filled time seeing who was going to get the pie! We still want to know what Belva did to avoid it so many times it was her turn! On National Animal Cracker Day we enjoyed animal crackers but had a spelling bee, trying to spell many animal names.
Then we talked about all the snow we have had and how pretty it looked after it fell. We are writing this as the weather has begun to warm up and we are excited to get outdoors and smell the flowers. That led to the question about May Day and the flower sale. It will again be held this year on May 10th and 11th from 9-6 and May 12th from 9-1. We really enjoy getting outside to see the flowers that many of our community members purchase and then the money is used to continue all of our activities here at the home. We remember taking flowers to a neighbor’s house and leaving it on their porch on May Day. That made us wonder if anyone does this anymore.
We also know that the activity staff had an ice cream social for the many volunteers that we have here, and we also want to thank everyone who comes to our home to provide companionship, music, their animals, conversations, assistance to and from church services and so much more. Thanks so much!
As we finished our conversations, we wanted to wish everyone a happy May Day as well as Memorial Day.
