Update from the Administrator September 4, 2021
DATE: 09/04/2021
Dear Residents, Families and Representatives,
We have continued to conduct routine COVID testing of staff per current guidance. Testing was conducted 09/01 – 9/03/2021 and we were notified today that one assisted living staff person tested positive for COVID-19. We are conducting contact investigations and have placed our assisted living unit, The Meadows, on quarantine as a precaution. Residents in that area will also be tested per CDC guidance and will be closely monitored. Any resident or staff person who develop symptoms will be placed on precautions.
All staff, regardless of vaccination status, will be tested for COVID-19 per CDC guidance for the next 14 days. Residents in the nursing home do not need to be tested at this time. If any additional staff cases are identified in the next 14 days, all residents will be tested as well.
Family visits will continue in the nursing home and visits to The Meadows will be limited to outdoor only. Face masks are absolutely required for all visits due to the very high level of COVID-19 spread in our area. I encourage families to call ahead when visiting to be sure that visiting areas are available and there are no restrictions in place. We are required to keep a log of all visitors and screen them for illness or recent exposure to other individuals who are ill or have tested positive for COVID recently. We do request contact information from all visitors to assist us should we need to contact them. Please share this with other relatives or friends who may be visiting. These measures are important for safety and we appreciate your cooperation!
Our area has a very high level of community spread of the coronavirus at this time. The Monroe County Health Department and Centers for Disease Control strongly encourage wearing facemasks regardless of vaccination status at this time. Vaccinations for COVID-19 are safe and effective and significantly reduce the chance of severe illness, hospitalization and death.
I will continue to keep you informed of any developments. Please reach out with any questions or concerns!
Stay well,
Linda Smith NHA
