Update from the Administrator 11-5-21
DATE: 11/05/2021
Dear Residents, Families and Representatives,
We were notified this morning that we had one staff person test positive for COVID-19 from testing conducted on Thursday. Contact tracing was completed and no significant exposure to residents or staff occurred. The staff person will remain off of work until they meet criteria to return.
We are testing all residents and targeted staff today and next week as a precaution. We continue to screen and monitor residents and staff for signs and symptoms of illness.
CMS put forward a mandate yesterday for all healthcare workers to be fully vaccinated by 1/4/2022 and we will comply with this requirement. We must allow for exemptions for staff with recognized medical conditions for which vaccines are contraindicated (as a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)) or religious beliefs, observances, or practices (established under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964). The vast majority of our staff are already fully or partially vaccinated. All of our current residents are vaccinated and we continue to offer assistance with vaccinations for any new staff and residents. Vaccines are proven effective at preventing serious illness, hospitalization and death and are critically important for keeping our residents, staff and visitors healthy.
As a reminder, we are doing a COVID vaccine booster clinic for residents and staff on 11/9. If you have a consent form please sign and return it as soon as possible to ensure we have sufficient vaccine for residents who wish to receive the Moderna booster.
I will continue to keep you informed of any developments. Please reach out with any questions or concerns!
Stay well,
Linda Smith NHA
