Update from the Administrator 1-11-2021
DATE: 01/10/2021
Dear Residents, Families and Representatives,
All resident and staff COVID tests were negative from the week of January 3rd-9th!
We will continue with testing staff twice per week and residents once per week while the Monroe County rate of infections remain high. There has been some improvement in the positivity rate in Monroe County and if the trend continues we will be able to drop down to one time per week testing.
Our first COVID-19 vaccination clinic was held on January 7th. It went very well! 53 residents and 63 staff received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. The second dose will be given during the COVID vaccine clinic on February 8th. We have additional staff and our assisted living residents who will start their series of vaccinations on February 8th. If you/your resident chose not to be vaccinated in January there is still time to get signed up for the next clinic! Be sure to reach out to the unit nurse or social worker to get signed up. The final scheduled clinic date is March 11th for the second dose for those who had the first dose in February. I have not received any information on the availability of vaccines after the March clinic. It is important to take advantage of the opportunity to be vaccinated now!
I am very grateful that our residents and staff are able to receive the vaccinations! It gives us all hope that the risk of an outbreak will be lessened (after we have completed all the vaccinations) and that we will be able to look forward to family visits with precautions in a couple of months. Please keep following all the safety precautions such as wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet away from others, limiting gatherings and good hand hygiene. We will need to remain cautious to get the virus under control.
I will continue to provide periodic updates on staff and resident test results. Also look for information coming out on visits later in February. We will need to follow state and federal guidance regarding safe visits and I anticipate new information will be released in the next month. There is a light at the end of the tunnel! Thank you for your patience and support during this challenging time.
Best regards,
Linda Smith NHA
