Update from Administrator 7/30/2023
DATE: 07/30/2023
Dear Residents, Families and Representatives,
I am writing to report that we had one staff person test positive for COVID-19 today after being notified of a community exposure. The staff person did not have any symptoms. There has been an uptick in reported cases of COVID in the LaCrosse County area and is making its way into Monroe County.
We are reinstating use of masks in the facility until further notice due to this staff case as well as the reports that COVID and influenza are circulating in the community. We will be testing residents and staff who may have had contact with the positive staff person or that exhibit any signs or symptoms. Symptoms of COVID-19 include runny/stuff nose, sore throat, cough, body aches, diarrhea, vomiting and headache. It can be difficult to know if minor symptoms are “just allergies” or may actually be COVID-19. This is why repeated testing is important if symptoms are present.
We also have made the decision to quarantine Willow Lane while we conduct testing and symptom monitoring over the next several days. We are being aggressive with our response to try to prevent a bigger outbreak. COVID-19 spreads quickly and often without any symptoms in the early stages. Good hand washing and use of hand sanitizer can help prevent spread of COVID, flu and other illnesses.
Residents may still have visitors whenever they wish, regardless of the quarantine measures. Visitors are encouraged to wear masks and use good hand hygiene. If visitors have any symptoms of illness they should postpone visiting until they are feeling better and symptoms are gone.
I will keep you informed of any new staff or resident cases. We are in outbreak status until we have 14 days with no further staff or resident cases.
Sincerely,
Linda Smith LNHA
